It was a 6 to 2 vote Tuesday night by the city council allowing the demolition of the Harrison Church located at 1600 Southwest Harrison street.
The church was in operation from the 1920's....up until the 1990's.
Multiple people approached the city in 2005 and 2006 to try and restore the building.
Then in 2007 it was adopted as a local historic landmark..but the owners didn't follow through with the restoration.
It's been a 5 year debate on what to do since.
The condition of the building, lack of bidders to purchase the church were reasons for demolition.
The City Planning Director, Bill Fiander says the building's demolition is expected at the begining of next year.
