The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as 22 year-old Kayla Lowrey. The patrol says the accident happened at approximately 11:20pm on I-70 about three miles west of Maple Hill.
The report indicates Lowery was headed west bound when a deer ran in front of her car. She hit the brakes and began skidding sideways. The vehicle went into the center median and rolled several times, ending up in the eastbound lanes of I-70.
A passenger in the car, Grace Holmes of Topeka, was listed as injured and taken to a Topeka hospital. Both were wearing safety belts.
