A 2002 Honda Civic, driven by Michelle S. Hubbard, 18 of Topeka, was traveling north bound in the 3000 block of SE Croco when she lost control of her car, left the roadway, struck a utility box, ran over a gas pump and struck a Ford F150 pick-up truck parked in a parking stall in front of the business located at the corner of SE 30th Terr. and SE Croco Rd.
Deputies arrested Hubbard at the scene for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Failure maintain a single lane and Display of acceleration/Drag Racing.
The incident is still under investigation.
New this morning, a gas pump goes up in flames early Monday morning after a car chase.
At about 2:15 a.m., a car that was leading a Shawnee County Deputy on a chase crashed into a gas station pump in the 3000 block of southeast Croco. Officials said that the deputy was chasing two cars on Croco when the cars split up. One car tried to turn left, but overturned, hitting the gas pump at the BP station.
Deputies said the pump did catch fire, but the deputy was able to shut off the pump with the emergency turn-off button. Deputies said there were two people in the car that hit the gas pump. One fled on foot and the driver was arrested. The other car in the chase got away. No injuries were reported.
