TOPEKA, KS -- Three men are still on the loose following a deadly shooting Thursday morning in Topeka. The shooting on Arter Avenue left 29-year-old Juan Solis dead.
While friends and family are still waiting for answers, Nicolette Schleisman explains how they are remembering their friend.
Topeka police have not made any arrests in the murder of the 29-year-old father of three, and detectives are still following multiple leads. Meanwhile, the friends of solis are trying to help his family through this hard time.
That is where Boss Hawg's comes in.
Solis was an employee of the Topeka restaurant for 11 years. And as soon as owner, Sarah Burtch, heard what happened, she knew she needed to act.
"A lot of our staff used - hung out with them. I mean they'd all go and hang on weekends, so yeah we want to do this for the family because they're a part of our family too," said Burtch.
Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Burtch will be donating 10% of all sales to Solis' family. They're also collecting separate donations to give to them as well.
Burtch says they have already raised about $500 for the family. They are hoping to bring in more than $1,000 Saturday.
Topeka Police are still asking for anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (785) 234-0007.
