Highway 24 sees lots of traffic, and the "Horticultural Service Garden Center" owners Barbara Meyer and her husband have been in this spot for 28 years.
"We have seen the traffic by our store increase dramatically because of the 4 lane road they've put in between Manhattan and Wamego, said Meyer."
But that traffic has also become a problem. Between accidents and congestion, the road just cannot handle the amount of travel.
Pottawatomie County Commissioner, Gary Yenzer says something needs to be done.
"Once the McCall and 24 intersection gets to a magical number that KDOT has, then they have to widen highway 24, which right now it's a four lane, then you'll have to make it a six lane. You're looking at utilities, possible acquisition of homes and businesses in that area just to put those two lanes in."
To fix it, both Riley and Pottawatomie counties are looking to create a second link which will connect the counties and hopefully reduce traffic off 24.
We contacted Riley county but were unable to get ahold of anyone to speak on this project.
Meyer says, she isn't worried about it hurting business.
"I don't think it would affect us negatively, I think it might slow people down a little bit that drive over the speed limit. I think we are a destination anyway, and I think they find us."
Meyer also says the traffic really makes it tought to get in and out of the parking lot.
" If you have more alternatives of ways to get someplace then i think it will be beneficial to both Riley County and Pottawatomie County."
It's going to be a long road ahead, but no matter what this little flower shop is expecting business.
