At approximately 7:05 this morning a traffic accident involving two pick-up trucks was reported in the northbound lanes near the intersection of University Blvd. and S. Topeka Blvd.
A 2004 blue, Dodge Dakota driven by Sherri L. Despain, 37 of Topeka, was traveling northbound on S. Topeka Blvd. and was struck by a 2008 white Ford F-150 driven by Douglas E. Peak, 55 of Huron, Kan. Peak was traveling southbound on Topeka Blvd. and turned left to go eastbound on University Blvd. when he failed to yield for northbound traffic at the intersection.
The traffic control signal at the intersection was disabled as a result of the collision. East and West cross traffic on University Blvd. is shut-down until further notice. City of Topeka signal repair personnel are installing a new traffic control utility box near the intersection. North and southbound traffic on Topeka Blvd. is open.
No injuries were reported with this crash. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, there were no other occupants in the cars.
