The 2013 Spring Governor's Cup soccer tournament will be held in the Capital City the weekend of May 3-5, 2013. The tournament will feature 176 youth boys' and girls' soccer teams that will be traveling from Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. In total, the event is expected to draw over 2,800 youth soccer players and an additional 10,000 parents and fans for the 3-day event.
Matches will begin on Friday evening and run throughout the weekend at the Sunflower Soccer Complex, Hummer Sports Complex and Hayden High School.
Tournament sponsors include the Parrish Hotels, Inc., Visit Topeka, Inc., Go Topeka Entrepreneurial & Minority Business Development, Frito Lay, Aramark, Barker Printing and the Olive Garden Restaurant.
Hayden and Holton clashed in a battle of 4A schools, while Topeka High hosted Topeka West in a girls matchup.
