Two groups gathered Tuesday night to show their opposition to the death penalty in Kansas.
Members of 'Murder Victims Families for Reconciliation of Kansas' and 'The Kansas Coalition Against the Death Penalty' held a Memory Tree ceremony in Topeka.
It involved music, a candle lighting ceremony, and a reading of the names of murder victims.
The event observes the anniversary of the Kansas Legislature's decision to reinstate the death penalty in 1994.
