Topeka City Council members voted Tuesday night to appoint Nathan Schmidt to hold southwest Topeka's district eight seat for the next 22 months.
The governing body voted after holding public interviews with Schmidt and fellow applicants Charles Dean Wilson and David Mountain.
Schimdt is a senior database administrator at the Kansas Department of Revenue.
He says first on his agenda is getting used to being on the council. Schmidt says he's will be open and easy to work with.
