A high school student escaped serious injury after a rollover accident in Shawnee County this morning.
It happened at approximately 7:15 this morning on the 8200 block of Southwest 61st Street, about a quarter mile east of Auburn Rd.
The 16 year old female driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was out of the vehicle prior to the fire. She reported being assisted with getting out of the car, by an unidentified first responder. She said she was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene. She was taken from the scene by her father. The vehicle was a total loss.
Upon arrival, the Auburn Fire Department says the vehicle a 1986 Honda Accord was on its top in the South ditch fully engulfed in flames. Investigation at the scene reveled the vehicle was Eastbound, went off the South side of the road, hit a culvert and overturned.
