Jackson County Sheriff's deputies arrested 32-year old Timothy R. Allensworth of Mayetta Wednesday at his home. According to the Sheriff's Office, the arrest was in connection to a burglary and theft of 23 cattle panels and a gate and frame from a rural Hoyt farm. The burglary and theft are believed to have occurred at 9999 O.4 Road just north of the Shawnee County line sometime after June 20. Soon after the theft, Sheriff's investigators obtained a photo of a subject believed to be Allensworth with the missing panels at a Topeka scrap yard. The loss due to the theft was estimated at $4,064.00.
Allensworth was booked into the Jackson County Jail for burglary, felony theft and criminal trespass. Bond is still pending. A 1989 Ford F-150 pickup truck that is believed to be used in connection with the crime has been impounded and seized by the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office says it has been aggressively pursuing metal thieves and in the attempt to deter these crimes from occurring has seized several vehicles that had been used in carrying out these types of crimes.
