Junction City, Kan.- - Junction City has a new city manager.
Gerald C. Smith will start work in less than two weeks on October 14, 2013. He has more than 20 years in municipal management. His latest position was the Director of the General Services Department in Kansas City, Mo.
Junction City commissioners voted unanimously last night and Smith was selected out of 30 applicants for the position.
Smith replaces former City Manager Gerry Vernon who resigned last May. Interim City Manager Cheryl Beatty had been filling in since then.
