President of the Local 906 American Federation of Government Employees, Diana Hicks says while she wasn’t furloughed, she felt pain of those who were.
“Congress needs to understand that they are the lead of the people and for the people that were elected into their position,” says Hicks. “Nowhere do I see where personal gain should be part of that, as a Union President, if a majority of my members ruled on something I would never go against what they wanted.”
Protestors talked about concerns with the deficit and the raising of the debt ceiling that’s continuous. They say they’re worried what that means for the future.
