WASHINGTON - Congress heard the first accounts about the disastrous rollout of the President’s healthcare law and its insurance exchanges from the administration this week. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement in anticipation of President Obama’s speech in Boston and after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sebelius testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee today.
“The problems with the President’s health care law does not stop at the website. Many Kansans have contacted my office about how they are losing the health insurance they had and liked, and are now being forced to buy new, more expensive health care plans they cannot afford.
“I agree with Secretary Sebelius when she said the American people deserve better. Whether it is the family in Pittsburg, whose out-of-pocket costs will triple before their baby is born, or the Independence man, whose premium will go up 80 percent, I will continue to fight for Kansans and their families who are being negatively affected by ObamaCare. The President’s health care law is more than a broken website; it is a broken law.”
