CONROE, Texas (AP) — Texas Rep. Brandon Creighton says he's decided to run for state Senate instead of agriculture commissioner.
Creighton announced Wednesday night that he would run to finish the unexpired term of State Sen. Tommy Williams, a Republican from The Woodlands who announced this month that he'd resign before the start of the 2015 legislative session.
Creighton lauded Williams in a statement and said he'd received "overwhelming encouragement" to enter the Senate race.
Creighton, a Conroe Republican, leaves three candidates running for the Republican nomination for agriculture commissioner.
