After a fairly wet spring season, summer has been dry. At Topeka's Billard airport, only a trace of rain has fallen this July. This puts us well below the average rainfall for July of 1.50". Also, since June 1st we are more than -3.50" below average for moisture. All of this has lead to a moderate drought to re-develop across Northeast Kansas. However, areas along HWY 36 have remained moist and no drought designation has been assigned to that region.
For the year, Topeka has received a grand total of 17.49" of rain...this is about -2.50" below the average rainfall of 20.00" we normally get by the middle of year. Hopefully we will see more rain soon!
