Sabetha finished with a sub-.500 record a season ago but still managed to make the second round of the playoffs.
"These seniors know what it's like to make the playoffs," Sabetha head coach Garrett Michael said. "They've been fortunate enough to be in the playoffs every year thus far, and what we're doing right now is trying to get better every day."
Last year's loss in the postseason still stings as the Bluejays fell to Rossville in overtime by one points. This year, Sabetha plans to lean on its leadership.
"We have mixture of leaders," Sabetha senior offensive lineman/linebacker Brandon Harrell said. "We have the vocal leaders and the people that are the kind of watch leaders."
Sabetha begins the season at home against Jeff West.
"We have made it to the postseason in years past, but we push every day and coach wants us to get better every day, every practice," Sabetha senior quarterback Gaven Schumann said. "And this year we don't want to win just one or two games, we want to go deep."
