Briar Ploude, Jumps, Emporia State
At the USTFCCCA Division II National Meet of the Week, Ploude won the high jump at the State Farm ESU Relays with a jump of 7-00.25 (2.14m) to break a 16 year old meet record. In his first outdoor competition of the season, he broke Charles Berneys 1997 record of 6-11.50 (2.12m) set while competing for Kansas City (Kan.) CC. He is the top ranked high jumper in the MIAA and is fourth in the nation. He has cleared seven feet in all but one meet he has competed in this year indoor and outdoor. The senior high jumper is a native of Meridan, Kan. and competed at Jefferson West High School.
